How trading works in Fish It!

Last updated: November 6, 2026

Trading is the system that turns Fish It! from a solo fishing grind into a market, and it arrives later than most new players expect. This guide covers the unlock, the place, the price signal the game itself gives you, and the one category of item that never changes hands, so you can walk into your first trade knowing exactly what the game allows.

The unlock: Level 20

Trading opens at Level 20. Before that, the Trading Plaza is not a market you can use, whatever other players promise you in chat. The road to 20 is the ordinary game: fish, sell, upgrade your rod, and complete the early island content. Codes unlock earlier, at Level 10, so redeem the potion codes on the codes page on the way; Mutation II Potions make the climb faster because mutated catches sell for more and fund rod upgrades sooner.

Where trades happen: the Plaza booths

Trades run through booths in the Trading Plaza. A booth is a listing spot: a player puts fish on display, other players browse, and the deal happens between the two accounts through the game's own trade flow. That structure matters for safety. A trade that happens inside the booth system is a trade the game can actually complete. A deal arranged in chat that asks you to hand something over first, outside the booth flow, is not the game's system and carries all the risk personally.

The price signal: Recent Average Price

Every listing shows a Recent Average Price, shortened to RAP, which is the game's own rolling read of what that fish has actually been changing hands for. RAP is the single most useful number in the Plaza: it is live, it is per fish, and it cannot be faked by the person across the booth. Use it as your anchor. The values on this site are steady community estimates built from rarity and odds, which makes them a good second opinion, but when RAP and an estimate disagree, RAP is describing today's market and the estimate is describing the fish's place on the ladder. A seller asking far above RAP owes you an explanation, usually a mutation or an exceptional weight, and both of those are visible on the copy itself.

What trades, and what does not

Fish trade. That includes the high value Secrets and Mythics that anchor the top of the market, and mutated copies, whose price should reflect the mutation multiplier on top of the base fish. Gamepasses can also change hands. Rods do not trade directly. There is no booth route that moves a rod from one account to another, so every rod in the game is obtained the way the rods database describes: bought for coins in a store, bought as a gamepass, handed out by an NPC, or built through a quest chain like the Ghostfinn, Element, Diamond and Withering rods. Anyone offering to trade you a rod is offering something the game cannot deliver, and that is the clearest scam signal in this game.

Running a clean first trade

Start small, with a fish whose RAP you have checked twice. Price your own offers against RAP, not against the highest number you have seen in chat. Before accepting, run the two sides through the WFL calculator: it totals both offers in coins on this site's estimates and applies a 10 percent fair band, which catches the classic Plaza trick of padding one side with impressive looking bulk fish that add up to very little. If a deal only works when you value the other side's fish generously and your own fish harshly, it does not work.
